Meet Denise D. Moore, LMHC, QS
Licensed Mental Health Counselor | Qualified Supervisor | Trauma Specialist | Speaker | Author Serving Tampa Bay, FL — In Person & via Telehealth throughout Florida
I didn't choose this work by accident...
I chose it because I know what it means to witness people carrying pain they were never meant to carry alone — and I know what it looks like when they finally put it down.
I'm Denise Moore, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified Supervisor, and the founder of Grow, Empower & Transform Therapy, LLC. I was born in Buffalo, NY, raised in Detroit, Michigan, and have called the greater Tampa Bay area home since 2007. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Niagara University and my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University in Tampa, FL.
Over the course of my career I've worked alongside people in some of their hardest moments — in community mental health, foster care and adoption, school counseling, medical social work with hospice patients, and now in private practice. What has remained constant across every setting is my commitment to showing up for people with honesty, warmth, and the deep belief that healing is always possible.
My specialty is trauma — specifically the kind that comes from relationships.
Narcissistic abuse. Toxic partnerships. Generational wounds. The slow erosion of self-worth that happens when you've loved someone who couldn't love you safely. This is the work I am called to do.
As a Black trauma therapist, I am also deeply committed to serving the Global Majority — holding space that is culturally affirming, free of judgment, and grounded in an understanding of the unique burdens carried by Black women and communities of color.
My clinical training includes:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Motivational Interviewing
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Person-Centered and Strength-Based approaches
Beyond the therapy room, I am a sought-after speaker on trauma, healing, and mental wellness. I write healing journals to support clients between sessions. I host community workshops and facilitate healing groups — including H.E.R. (Heal, Empower, Release), an 8-week group created specifically for Black women, and structured group intensives for individuals healing from narcissistic abuse.
I am also a Qualified Supervisor, available to provide clinical supervision to registered interns and newly licensed counselors in the state of Florida.
My credentials:
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) — State of Florida
- Qualified Supervisor (QS) — State of Florida
- M.S., Counseling Psychology — Troy University, Tampa, FL
- B.S.W., Social Work — Niagara University, NY
